So last night in an effort to study for my History test, I decided to pull an all nighter... pretty much I stayed up all night just studying history!! It was pretty sweet I'm not going to lie, but when I got to my test... half way through I just hit a wall, and every chance to finish my essay ended in my eyes rolling into the back of my head. So I got up, went to the bathroom, and splashed myself with cold water. I got back to the test taking area and as I walked in, the Professor said, "we got 5 more minutes until time is up" I was like FUCK MY LIFE!! I had finish the rest of this long essay in 5 minutes. Soon, adrenaline filled my veins and I began writing the most epic Essay on how the French Revolution was more pivotal in European histroy than the Industrial Revolution. The essay was perfect!! I handed in the most amazing work of scholastic inginuity right on time... I then went back to my room and crashed like it was my job. One of my plebes had to come wake up in time for formation... thank you 4/c Hill!! Missing formations are bad and normally end up in you getting chewed out.
So the rest of my day went pretty well, after school was over, I went to go see the Russian Ambassador speak. The guy mumbled and spoke in the most monoton voice ever imaginable. Considering my current state of sleep deprivation, trying to stay awake during his speech was the most difficult task I've ever had to face. I'm pretty sure the guy next to me hit me like 5 or 6 times. Though I picked up a few things on how Russia's policies were more concerned on Russia itself, rather than the surrounding nations. Then came the quesetions... this one girl, she had be like 19... she went up to the microphone and asked... "so, um, when I was in Russia, the gas prices were like really expensive and in America gas prices are like not really expensive, um, can you comment on that?" The Ambassador just looked at her and said, its called capitalism. Though he elaborated a little bit, but I think it more out of pity rather than necessity. Poor girl... The last guy to ask a question was a midshipman and he asked the Ambassador to compare a recent conflict in Russia to the Iraqi war. The Ambassador pretty much just said that Russian conflict was just and the Iraqi war was the biggest mistake ever made by the United States Government. Keep in mind, there are about 20 other future military officers in this room, along with some others who probably lived during the red scare. So needless to say, some people were pretty ticked... but that was the last question, so that was pretty much everyone's last impression of him. Even though I slept through part of his speech, I still went up to shake the dude's hand. He was wearing this baggy pin stripe suit and smelled like my grandfather. He had to be covered in grandpa cologne. Just had to! I wonder if they actually sell it... oh its called old spice... hahaha... just kidding Jake (I don't think you smell like old man)... btw jake is my roommate, he's probably reading this right now and is like... julio... WTF?! anyway, going to see the ambassador was a really cool experience.
So on the way back, I tried to get an hour of sleep, but since I think that I was so tired, that I couldn't sleep! yes its possible! it just happened!! like honestly WTF??!?!?! I was so pissed... maybe it was just the bus ride back, but I rode in buses every week when I was in High School, and use to fall asleep like a baby. What's changed? oh well, what I do know is that I have a Russian test tomorrow on furniture and colors, so like we say in Russia... Доброе вечером!!

Julio's mystery
So this is my first blog in my 20 years 9 months and 4 days of existence.... interesting huh? kind of... anyway, I kinda stole the idea from someone and thought "what the hell, why not?" I guess all the cool kids are doing it to, so might as well. Actually, I think I only know one other person in my life that actually blogs. I guess this could be like a cool diary or something.
So, I saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade last night around 2 am and Dr. Jones, played by Sir Sean Connery, created a grail diary that had all of his hints and solved mysteries about the Holy Grail. It was this awesome beaten down leather book that could easily fit inside your pocket. To top it off, it was written with neat hand writing and cool drawings. Now wouldn't it be cool to have an awesome beaten down leather book that could easily fit inside your pocket??? OF COURSE!! but here's the situation... at least my situation. I don't really own one yet, but that's the least of our problems.... 1. I don't really write that well. I guess I can but it'll take me forever to actually take my time and right something down perfectly. And lets be honest: me and time don't really work that well together. Primarily, school takes up most of my time. Though do I actually study and work all the time... uh no! Come to think of it... I should be studying for my history exam I have tomorrow, I am a history major by the way, so I do like it. But everyone need a break... right? Glad you agree. That being said, I took time out of my busy study schedule to create this blog and to see where it takes me. I'm not really sure how often I'm going to write in this, but lets just go wherever the wind blows us. Thats a good motto, Mark Twain wrote:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do rather than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
So essentially, this is my way to explore, dream, and discover. Cool stuff huh? Oh and back to that whole awesome beaten down leather book that could easily fit inside your pocket idea... 2. I can't really draw that well, so that automatically nulls any idea of having an awesome beaten down leather book that could easily fit inside your pocket.
So we've gotten this far, now what about that name? UncleJULIO? I choose this because 1. I am an unlce, and 2. my name is Julio 3. its the name of this cool mexican restaraunt in Texas. Good food, I think I've been there once, but I always passed by it. Brings back good memories and 4. what better surname than Uncle Julio?? It just sounds like it should belong to a really handsome nice guy (me). And it does...
Now why do I call it Julio's Mysteries?? Well here's my assesment: Everyday in our short life is a mystery, bringing new adventures, emotions, and rewards. Whats going to happen next? How am I going to feel 4, 10, 20, hours from now? But at the end of the day, how are you going to remember those new feeling and adventures? Hopefully you're amazing a remembering emotions and actions! Though for the rest of us who have a troubling time remembering previous accounts and emotions, why not write it now? Save the mysteries and cherish them, both good and bad (corny enough?).
So here we go with full sails to a mysterious future to endure and experience. explore. dream. discover.
